Goals and AccomplishmentsCHN has achieved its goals by providing forums that enable individuals and organisations to link, collaborate and catalyse new possibilities between peace builders and humanitarians. CHN has carefully monitored the connections made and projects initiated and has developed good methods of nurturing the growing network that is strengthening our global community. The events in reverse order are: July 2004, The Sounds and Psalms of the Rainforest, an Amazon Village Fundraiser, Marin, CA. Late June 2004 Hosted Dhyan Or in Glastonbury, UK. This was an opportunity for the co-founder of the All Nations Café, East Jerusalem, to make many important contacts. One of them being the Mayor of the town who is now keen to twin Glastonbury with Jerusalem. Early June 2004 Hosted Ibrahim Abu El Hawa and his wife Naeema in Glastonbury, UK. This was a respite break for two extraordinary and hardworking Palestinian peacemakers from the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem. March 2004 Hosted Eliyahu McLean and Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhari in Glastonbury. Many formal and informal events were held. Two ‘major' peacemakers from Jerusalem were also given a well-earned rest. September 2003 Pam Perry became involved with the developing Ministry for Peace / Commission for Peace, House of Commons, London. July 2003 Hosted Eliyahu McLean in Glastonbury for a respite break with a few meetings and funding connections added in. April 2003 Suzanne Keehn became involved with promoting the Department of peace in the US. March 2003 Organised many speaking events for Eliyahu Mclean and Ibrahim Abu El Hawa in Bath, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Dublin. October 2002 Spirit of Peace One day conference at the Quaker Centre in Birmingham with Eliyahu Mclean, Ibrahim Abu El Hawa, Elana Rozenman and Ibtisam Mahamid. Various other events with our guests from the Holy Land in London and Birmingham. September 2002: Retreat, Redwood City, CA; March - August 2002: Funded and organised presentations by prominent members of Peacemaker Community – Middle East in London, Oxford, Bath, Birmingham, Glastonbury and San Francisco Bay Area, USA. Reception at The House of Lords, London, where they addressed members of the British government, including the British Ambassador to Israel, also many heads of Interfaith organisations, and Sheikh Hamza Yussef, leading Islamic scholar and advisor to George W Bush. October 2001: Conference in Jerusalem where many spiritually based peacemakers where invited as guests to join international peace workers who wished to bear witness to their work. July 2001: Peace Concert at Manchester Cathedral, UK; July 2000: Organised presentations by visiting Siberian doctors / healers in Bath and Glastonbury; August 2000: International Healing Summit, Queensland, Australia; August 1999: International Healing Summit, Novosibirsk, Siberia (with 150 Russian scientists, healers, humanitarians, as guests of CHN, plus 26 internationals); August 1998: International Healing Summit, Glastonbury UK (with 200 humanitarians from 21 countries); October 1997: International Healing Summit, Monterey CA (with 220 humanitarians from 19 countries). Other forums since 1992 have included workshops, retreats, conferences, peace concerts, monthly gatherings, peace circles, tours and presentations. |
