CHN IS A SMALL NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION whose purpose, since its birth in 1992, has been to support humanitarians working for peace. We have focused on bringing together humanitarians, healers and peacebuilders through a variety of forums. People who honour and respect each others' differences and are willing to work together for a shared goal.
In 1998 during our conference in Glastonbury, UK, we were invited by an Israeli participant to present a conference in Jerusalem. In October 2001 we held a five day event entitled 'A Gathering of Friends' at a beautiful hotel on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Our intention was to provide a space for grassroots peacemakers of the Holy Land to come together in a place of safety, and for internationals to bear witness to the remarkable work of those who are striving together for peace and reconciliation in the Holy Land.
Having met with many of these extraordinary individuals we found ourselves inspired and awed by the message that they embody. These truly spiritual and loving individuals act as bridges between opposing sides and foster resolution where politics alone flounders.
It became clear to us that our future direction was to be connected with the epic struggle they are involved in, our belief being that there can be no worldwide peace until there is peace in the Holy Land.
Since 2001 we have been working to link many of the Holy Land grassroots peacebuilders with a wider international community of peace workers and other like-minded organisations.
During many events in the UK and USA, members of the Holy Land 'peace community' have, with their words and loving presence, brought hope and inspiration amidst worsening and seemingly hopeless news.
These events raise awareness and shift consciousness and are spaces for catalysing new possibilities between existing peacebuilders. They also inspire the next generation of dedicated activists and open the hardened hearts of those who have a 'tyranny of certitudes'.
Creative Health Network's mission is to work with individuals, groups, and communities to help resolve societal problems and conflicts, to assist in making individual and collective peace a reality.
